Even though no one in Rwanda celebrates Halloween, last night one of my friends and I borrowed Rwandan Defense Forces uniforms and joined everyone else for a costume party.

I'm a southern girl with a little threadbare gypsy soul and a heart for social justice and equality, particularly health, housing and education. I currently live in Cairo, Egypt, where I work in infectious disease research, surveillance, outbreak investigation and capacity building in the region.
