Banana leaf mat

Today was the first time since I arrived in Rwanda that I've gone shopping for something other than groceries or other practicalities. I was out looking for a gift for a friend whose birthday is tomorrow, and I ended up buying something for myself as well - a large (appx. 4 feet in diameter), round, woven mat made out of banana leaves. It may sound odd, but we have several smaller ones in the office that we use like bulletin boards, and I think they're great. So now I have a huge banana leaf mat that easily holds all the picture I brought with me. I suppose it's a silly thing to write about, but I'm really excited to have something to decorate at least one of the bare walls of my room!
