Lake Muhazi

We spent the day at Lake Muhazi, about and hour and a half east of Kigali. We went to a place called Jambo Beach on the eastern shore of the lake. When we pulled up to the gate, it was actually closed, and there was a sign posted by the government about the closure. But there were several cars parked outside the gate, and a couple people showed us the milk crates that had been stacked to ease the climb over the wall. So after making sure that the seal on the government's letter didn't say "Ministry of Health", we climbed the wall with everyone else, and, surprisingly, from the other side of the wall, you would have never known the place was closed. It was such a beautiful day, perfect for being at the lake. The restaurant was open, so we ordered lunch - fresh fish from the lake, fries and bananas - and then spent the afternoon by the water (not in the water, for fear of schistosomiasis).
On the way home from the lake, I decided (1) to play with my camera a little bit, and (2) to try to give ya'll a glimpse into what Rwanda looks like outside Kigali. It's not the most exciting video, but it does paint a pretty good picture of life here.
