Well, I decided it was time for a new header on this thing. Since I now live in the middle of a flat desert, I decided that "Something in these Hills" probably wasn't an appropriate name to continue to use. So I'm trying out something new!

I'm a southern girl with a little threadbare gypsy soul and a heart for social justice and equality, particularly health, housing and education. I currently live in Cairo, Egypt, where I work in infectious disease research, surveillance, outbreak investigation and capacity building in the region.
