Capharnaum

Just north of Tiberius and Arbel, right on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, is the town of Capharnaum. Capharnaum is known as the "Town of Jesus," based on recorded verses that mention Jesus leaving Nazareth to live in Capharnaum, and was the home to the apostles Peter, James, Andrew, John and Matthew.
While in Capharnaum, Jesus stayed at the home of Peter, which is now the site of the most unique church I've ever seen. The church is built literally over the top of Peter's excavated home, which can be viewed through a window in the floor of the center of the church. Just a few meters away from Peter's house is the synagogue where Jesus taught while in Capharnam.
