Church of Heptapegon

Just outside Capharnaum is the Church of the Heptapegon (meaning "seven springs"), which commemorates the site of the feeding of the five thousand, where Jesus fed a crowd of five thousand with five loaves of bread and two fish.
The two metal doors at the entrance to the church depict beautiful scenes of the Sea of Galilee.
The church itself is a place that, from the time I stepped in the door, felt holy. It was less ornate and elaborate than many of the other churches in the area and was lit only by candlelight and a few bare light bulbs, and it was beautiful. I think it's probably my favorite church in Israel.
Under the altar at the front of the church is the rock on which it is said Jesus blessed the loaves of bread and fishes before feeding the crowd. The famous mosaic of a loaf of bread and two fishes is included in the floor in front of the rock.
