Golan Heights Winery

Just outside Katzrin is the Golan Heights Winery, where we stopped after visiting Katzrin.
We stopped by the winery for a tour of the facilities. In one room of the tour we watched the process by which bottles are filled, labeled and packaged, all of which is done by machine in a process that moves incredibly quickly.
After the tour, we were able to taste several of the varieties of wine that are produced here. It was explained to us that the Golan Heights region, due to extreme variations in altitude over a relatively small area, allow the production of a large variety of grapes, and therefore a large variety of wines. My favorite, of course, is my nameskae, the Katzrin. If it hadn't cost over $200, I would have bought a bottle!
We still ended up buying several bottles, though, to take back with us to Egypt, since the little wine available there is so terrible!
