"Do you want to go to Obama's home?" "I can take you to Obama's house." "Did you come here to visit Obama's family?" "Have you seen Obama's village?"
Every conversation I've had with a taxi driver in Kisumu begins with one of these questions. Taxi drivers here love Barack Obama. In fact, I think everyone here loves Barack Obama. Maybe even more than the rest of Kenya, because Barack Obama's family is indeed from Kisumu. His ancestral home is only a few kilometers outside Kisumu and today I passed the road that leads to "his" house. Every taxi driver wanted to take me there. Unfortunately, though, I ran out of time to pay a visit.
